The University of Indonesia is proud to announce a remarkable contribution from PE Limited, which has donated academic licenses for its Integrated Production Modelling (IPM) suite to support our institution’s research and education in sustainable energy systems. The total value of the donation is equivalent to an impressive £3,461,051.77 UK Sterling, showcasing PE Limted’s commitment to advancing academic excellence and energy innovation.
This generous donation comes in response to a proposal submitted by the Energy Systems Engineering Department, led by Mrs. Sheila Tobing, S.T., M.Eng., Ph.D. The department emphasized the importance of cutting-edge tools like the IPM suite in conducting Carbon Capture, Utilization, and Sequestration (CCUS) research. With Indonesia’s growing focus on transitioning to sustainable energy, CCUS is vital in reducing carbon emissions, mainly by utilizing depleted petroleum reservoirs for carbon storage.
The IPM suite will be a pivotal asset for the University’s laboratory, enabling comprehensive simulation and analysis of energy systems. It will notably support CO2 injection and storage research, helping researchers develop innovative strategies for Indonesia’s energy transition. This collaboration between the University of Indonesia and PE Limited underscores the synergy between academia and industry in tackling pressing global challenges. By equipping researchers and students with state-of-the-art tools, this partnership will empower the next generation of engineers and scientists to drive impactful solutions for Indonesia’s sustainable energy future.
The University extends its heartfelt thanks to PE Limited for their generosity. It looks forward to utilizing this invaluable resource to contribute meaningfully to energy systems engineering.
